This project involves installation of meters that provide solar energy with a sole purpose of providing energy to more rural households in Rwanda. An experienced technician/electrician will be responsible for installation of these meters. My role as a software engineer is to develop a Java-based system that will keep track of the installed meters, and the meters owners information such as name, id number, location, etc. The application we are developing will also be used by customers and technicians to communicate. Each customer will be given a short identification number to use when trying to buy new solar energy units or when contacting the customer care department. Implementing that feature won't only help in facilitating transactions but also it will be a breakthrough in how utilities services in Rwanda are bought.
