Microwork is a particularly promising area for digital job opportunities by youth and women in developing countries. Such work can be performed by any worker with a computer, and access to Internet or mobile networks. Examples of such microwork include market research, data input, image tagging, copywriting, graphic design, and even software development.

The World Bank held microwork workshops in Nigeria earlier this year with great results. Over 8000 workers registered within 2 months after the event and on one of the online job platforms, hired workers earned a total of over $120,000 within 2 months. We will also get inspired from the Cloudfactory story, a company that aspires to create one million jobs connecting one million people in the developing world to basic computer work.
