Rwanda Hackathon - Hacking Against Corruption
Venue kLab (Kacyiru, Telecom House 6th Floor)
Date June 01st, 2013
Time 8 a.m. (2 days)

Transparency International Rwanda and Random Hacks of Kindness in partnership with kLab will organize on June 1st and 2nd its first Random Hacks of Kindness (RHoK) Hackathon against corruption in Kigali. It will be a 24h marathon weekend event of competitive coding, gathering software engineers together to develop software to respond to global challenges and crisis.

The starting point of the Kigali Hackathon will be the identification, definition and explication of problem definitions provided by French speaking African Transparency chapters. With the help of ICT tools, Civil Society Organizations can raise more attention and this can help a lot in the fight against corruption as ICT have a big potential to create greater access to information and communication for underserved populations. Transparency International Rwanda will work in conjunction with French Speaking chapters of Transparency International to develop problems statements addressing challenges in tackling corruption and transparency and these will be thrown out to the developers at the RHoK hackathon.

At the end of the weekend, we'll invite you to share your developped ICT prototype with the potential to win prizes and see your work put to use on the ground to fight against corruption. We will provide facilities, accommodation, power, food and refreshments to help you write your application. Just bring a laptop, ideas, and enthusiasm to complete the mix.
