The RMap team,a project of Columbia University would like to invite you to join us for a discussion and training workshop on “GIS for Development: Practical Applications in Health&Energy Access.”

GIS, mapping technologies are increasingly used by development actors. GIS lets actors and organizations visualize, question, analyze and interpret data to understand relationships patterns and trends central to key development questions. In May 2016, Columbia University’s RMap team'll pilot a GIS toolkit,at a sub-regional scale designed specifically to collect data on rural electrification of health centers.The team'll travel to designated study areas to collect GPS coordinates and related data on installed distributed generation systems and their usage in health clinics.GIS for development'll provide a practical overview of technology utilized in the RMap project as well as a forum for discussion of how similar technologies can be used in other development contexts.
